The journey of Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV) began with raising of the Veterans Cell in Aug 2010 for the redressal of grievance related to veterans’ issues at Army HQ level.

With a view to extend genuine care and support and to meet the aspirations of Veterans, the Veterans Cell was upgraded to full fledged Directorate, the Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV) on 14 Jan 2016 at Delhi Cantt under the Adjutant General’s Branch.

It provides Single Window welfare and grievance redress’ mechanism for all Army Veterans and Next of Kin (NOK) by constantly interacting with Line Directorates, State Governments, Ministry of Defence, Department of Ex Servicemen Welfare (DESW), Directorate General of Resettlement, Controller General of Defence Accounts, Banks/ Central Pension Processing Centres, Skilling Veterans.

The raising of DIAV, Offices of Col Veterans at Area / Sub Area HQs and Station ESM Cell in every station has enabled our outreach to Veterans and Next of Kin in a structured manner. DIAV has four verticals i.e. Policy & Outreach, Pension & Entitlement, Rehabilitation & Welfare and Skilling & Transition.
