ABOUT HONOUR RUN
The Indian Army Veterans Half Marathon (IAVHM) is a prestigious professional race organised by the Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV), Adjutant General’s Branch, Army Headquarter for honouring the valorous Indian Army Veterans, soldiers disabled in service, next of kin & wards of soldiers who die in line of duty. An annual event, IAVHM will take place in the heart of the capital of India in the month of December every year, offering four distinct distances- Half Marathon, 10Km, 5Km and a 3Km run/walk. IAVHM aims to provide a unique platform to unite participants in their shared appreciation for the selfless service and sacrifices made by our brave souls in uniform. The slogan, “Run to Honour Valour & Sacrifice’’ encapsulates the very essence of this event.
RAISON D’ETRE
Patriotism and love for the soldiers will serve as key drivers, infusing a strong sense of purpose, pride and camaraderie among participants. As they lace up their running shoes, they`ll carry a sense of responsibility and gratitude towards those who have selflessly served our nation.
Inspired by the vision statement We for Veterans, the Indian Army Veterans Half Marathon seeks to invoke an atmosphere of admiration for our nation’s defenders through overwhelming participation celebrating their unwavering commitment of protecting the country.
The event aims to bring together over 15K participants from all walks of life, the running enthusiasts, military personnel, families of veterans, and concerned citizens, in collective recognition of the indomitable spirit of our soldiers, thus, cementing the Citizen-Soldier bond.
WHY SUPPORT HONOUR RUN?
Supporting the Indian Army Veterans Half Marathon provides individuals, organisations & corporate entities a unique opportunity to contribute to a noble cause. Supporting this meaningful initiative will invariably enhance their goodwill through increased visibility and positive sentiment. Tangible contributions so received will be dedicated to the welfare of Indian Army veterans, soldiers disabled in service, widows/ next of kin of soldiers who die in line of duty and their wards through the event`s proceeds, which will be directed towards supporting them.
HONOUR RUN 2023 DEDICATED TO KARGIL VIJAY RAJAT JAYANTI
The inaugural edition of Indian Army Veterans Half Marathon is part of the national celebration of the `RAJAT JAYANTI’ of KARGIL VIJAY that adds even more significance and purpose to the event. It reflects a strong commitment of remembering and honouring the valour and sacrifices of our soldiers during the Kargil War. Thus, fostering a deep sense of gratitude and respect for our soldiers and their unwavering dedication to the nation, concurrently reflecting the national spirit that the Nation Cares.
As participants gather in New Delhi and across the nation for the virtual segment of the event, they will carry the spirit of patriotism and respect in their hearts, remembering the heroic acts of the soldiers who demonstrated exceptional courage during the Kargil War epitomising the sentiment that the nation`s heart beats for our soldiers.
